Strut rod mustang 2 question

Hi we have a mustang 2 kit from speed way. Does anyone have pics of the strut rod set up?
Do I need to bend it or can I weld the bracket in place where it sits?
Is there any benefits to bending the rod? It seems like headers will be farther back then the struts. Thanks any information is helpful.

Re: Strut rod mustang 2 question

The only ones I have seen where they bent the strut rod was when they had clearance issues where the bracket normally would mount but that usually throws the geometry of the A frame and strut off as the mount isn't set so the center of the hole in the bracket is on an exact plane with the bolt holding the control arm on. Ideally a long bolt would go through the center of the hole in the bracket so the control arm and strut pivot as one on the same axis. Move off that and it starts binding up.

I took some pictures when I got up today. Both sides measure the same it's the pic angle that makes the pass look out of place.

I think the headers will be exiting further back then this but this is a pic of how much room they take up under the frame.

Re: Strut rod mustang 2 question

The photos in post 4 show that you have it pretty close to the way it should be. If the nut were tight on the strut the center of the bracket would be centered on the bolt holding the control arm if it extended out that far.

Re: Strut rod mustang 2 question

WOW! I've never seen an M-2 aftermarket done with a strut rod. Is it so you can use the "stock" lower control arm or what? I don't get it.

Re: Strut rod mustang 2 question

Place a piece of pipe on the end of the rod, heat the strut with your torch at the spot where it curves now. When it is cherry red move the strut with the pipe till it lines up with the bottom of the frame. Let the Strut cool by itself do not hit with water or such.
