Shaved White Walls in Kansas

Does anyone know of a place that will make white walls wider in Kansas or the surrounding states?

Re: Shaved White Walls in Kansas

Used to be a guy who went around to the car lots in Central Texas in the early 70's and put or matched white walls on the tires on used cars with a motor that spun the tire and a set up that trimmed the rubber and layed a layer of white rubber on the tire. I never had time to watch him do a whole tire while I was working but saw him out on the lot about once a month over the years that I worked there. One of those setups would be gold now for someone who wanted to do wide white walls.

On the subject at hand, have you asked at the custom shops in town or asked the guys with custom cars with wide whites at cruise nights? Or checked in Salina or Kansas city. A guy Might have to travel a bit to find someone who does it.

There was some of these guys in nearly every town,, but the soft side walls of the radial tires done away with their jobs...

I heard that there is a guy in Albuquerque that will convert radial TA's in to white walls. Aparrently sands through the black on the raised letter side somehow. I know this does not help you in Oz but thought if someone here does it, someone there may as well.

Re: Shaved White Walls in Kansas

Like mr48chev said, I've too heard that this was common back in the days. Guys would also go around to car shows or swap meets to shave tires. But, given the liabilities and ambulance chasing lawyers of today, you're probably not likely to find anyone who would be willing to grind on the side wall of your tire.
