OEM Steering Wheel/Repro Horn Cap Fitment

Hey there, I'm restoring an OEM steering wheel and put a repro horn cap on it. But the gaps are terrible! I have the horn parts assembled correctly-the spring washer thing with the dome facing up, then the cup, then the plastic insulator. What is going on with it?

You may want to check the parts board for a OEM cap. I believe the crack is part of the gap problem too

My steering wheel is in pretty cracked up and warped condition like that. But it is solid and hanging together pretty well, and functional. In places where the horn button travel was interfered by plastic hitting plastic, I used a dremmel tool to remove plastic from the wheel. So now the horn works fine.

I'm not having problems with the horn button catching. I just can't figure out why the horn button sticks out so far.

Agreed. The center appears (old eyes) to have a huge crack, and while some repro. isn't the greatest, I can't believe they'd miss by that much. I'd say you need a steering wheel. If you want to rule one out, as tigger says, buy an OEM cap.
