Dash clock project
Well I have to much time on my hands. I picked up the extra gauge cluster at a swap meet for 15.00. It was missing the tach. So while I was at the junkyard looking for seat belts I happen to see a 80's mercedes car with a clock that looked to fit the old tach opening. I dremiled about 1/16" around the circumference to fit it snug. I repainted the handles. Just need to finish off with clear plastic over the front.

Very nice work.
Did you happen to measure the diameter of the clock before you trimmed it? I'd be interested in doing this project. This is the first vehicle I've had in a long time with no dash clock, and I miss that. Very good ingenuity shown, be sure to post the final pictures.

I was just working on a solution for this. I couldn't find an auto clock that would fit the bill but now I know where to look (80's Mercedes).
My current version was to buy a 3.5 clock insert (available on ebay or Amazon for $10 to $20) and then make a face that matches my sportcomp gauges. A little disassembly, a little painting and some reassembly. The clock should arrive this week. I will let you know how it goes. I have attached a couple pictures to show what I mean. Or I may start looking for an 80's Mercedes dash.

I ditched the stock clock motor, it didnt work anyhow and i didnt want draw on the system if it did work. I installed a hobby clock movement, you can get them at walmart, target, ect. Use a AA battery. I used the face of the clock from the mercedes, and the movement. repainted the hands the orange and its done. The clock pulls out from the front, I drilled and used two very small screws to hold it in the cluster. The front glass is plastic sheeting you can also get from hobby shop, cut to fit around lip of cluster and held in place with 3m double sided tape. I just wanted to look driver good, and it does.
