Dying seatbelts
Has anyone dyed seatbelts before? Steps? Products?

I have redyed the ones in my Mustang. I used Rit dye you can get at most places. I did not change the color, they were just faded and redyed them inside of buy new ones to save some money. I just made the dye like the packaging said in a plastic bucket, then pulled out the seat belt enough to place the faded part inside the bucket and let sit for a few hours, then rinsed and let dry.

I have redyed 2 sets of belts in these trucks. What I noticed is that there seems to be 2 different materials that the belts were made out of. The smoother material didn't seem to take the dye as well. I got a full set of lap belts out of a 76 or so, and they had the "more coarse" material, and they took the dye awesome, and looked new.

I was thinking bout using sem brand interior dye thats in a spray can... my black is starting to fade

Ive used that stuff on a 01 camaro i had and it workednok i had to reapply ever 2-3 months but that could be just because of the use ... idk if that would be a good idea since seatbelts rest on you clothing

I'm going to look around on the forum for ya. But I know Awhile back, I read someone's thread where they had their belts dyed. And they had the retractor housing painted, that part wouldn't be too hard. They posted pics of them, and they look brand new.

Ive tried just doing searches using dye and seatbelts, but sometimes them searches don't find what your actually looking for.
