Hi y'all - I just bought a 63 chevy and rec'd a bill of sale... the guy claims he has the title but can't currently find it, so we want to do the DMV replacement title thing. And I'd like to verify the VIN...

Cannot find the VIN on the inside of door as it's supposed to be... but found some #'s stamped on the Drivers side of the frame above the A arm...
attached is pic, is this the VIN? it seems like such a short number to be a vin.

If it were a '63 Chevy VIN it would begin with a 3C for 2wd or 3K for a 4wd.

A '63 GMC would begin with 4 digits then two letters.

Your screwed because that is only a partial vin, without the vin tag or title you may have some issues.

If the title is in the name of the guy who sold you the truck, he can simply file for a lost title. And depending on NV state laws, he may be able to transfer the title to you at the same time. If a VIN inspection is required, that will greatly complicate the issue. Without a VIN tag to go along with the title, you have nothing but a title to a truck and a parts truck. That is assuming a duplicate title can be issued. If not all you have is a parts truck.

not sure what the deal is on the frame... but the VIN tag is actually on the cab as it was supposed to be, I dont know how it was missed when the seller checked for it before...

Yep, 7 digits on the frame match last seven on the VIN tag.
