Lowered 61 stepside wheel/tire fitment

New member here. Searched the forum and couldn't find the answer. I have a 61 short bed stepside I plan to lower; 2.5" drop spindles in front (disc conversion) and 3" drop springs in back.

I want to put 15x8 wheels with 4" backspacing and 275/60/15 tires on it front and back. Will I have any clearance issues?

Also looking at 15x8 wheels with 3.75" backspacing.

Anyone running this combo on a 61 stepside?

Welcome from another Vegas truck. Why such a wide tire on front? I'm pretty sure your turns will cause contact. Run a 235 or 245 up front. There are wheel and tire threads just above discussion thread and you can look at other rim sizes that are just as wide. I run a 245/45/18 up front and that's a lot of tire.

Re: Lowered 61 stepside wheel/tire fitment

I had 275/60R15 all the way around with a 15X7 inch wheel and a 4.5 inch drop in front and 5 inch in rear and they fit fine. I don't recall the back spacing. It was the standard for that wheel. I have a 62 stepside.

Thanks for the replies. The reason I want the wide tires in front is because I really like the look and id lIke to be able to rotate them. But like lvphotos said, I'm concerned they will rub.

I'm glad to hear forestb made that size work on his 62. Does the 62 have the same torsion bar setup as the 60-61?

If you stay with that drop you'll be fine.. but if you go any lower youll probably have problems. And if you're going with 15x8 you'll want the 4" backspacing. That's what I've ran on mine.

Ok, thanks. I found some 15x8 6-lug wheels I really like, but they're 3.75" backspacing.
