Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
That steel crank is worth $$$...
And the cab could be put on a C10 chassis. Awkward yes.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
I would like to see that cab on a c-10 or 20 chassis. The crank should be the same for a 366, 396 or 427, right?

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
Neat truck but I would not buy it for the engine.
There is no market for steel 427 cranks any more. Yes it is the same as a 396/402. I lugged a std-std 427 crank good number nitrided yada-yada around to swap meets for about 5 years. Finally gave it away for $100 I think at the Nashville AACA in 2014 just so I didn't have to carry it home again. You may find the occasional Corvette/Chevelle/Camaro restorer who needs one for a 66 to 69 but outside that you will hold it for a long time waiting for the big bucks. Nobody builds 427s any more. Everybody wants 454s or 502s-if they even want a BB at all.

Hey my father just built a full roller 427! He likes the big piston and short stroke!

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
There will always be a vintage speed market. But that's a cool truck. Why are we talking about it's crankshaft? I'd build a motor home , car hauler, or toter home. The extra passenger space makes for a great rig

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
That is too cool. I'd put a looong step bed on it and lose the duals for wide single wheels. ( I think they're called super singles. ) Just to be different, and cuz I like long steppers...

If I had the $$$ and the time, *I* would build a 427.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
I called the owner and am working on getting it bought. I'll have an awesome 427 with steel crank for sale if I get it.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
I happen to know where one is. I'm almost thinking Longhorn with modified stepside fenders over the rear duals. I'm just hoping to get it first.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
That's what I'm doing on the GMC, I really want a "tucked" dually but there's no highway gears for the HO72.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
I think 4.10s with O/D is a great hiway ratio for a truck. And that way it's still good as a truck. That's what my '95 Suburban has. I think of thee GMT400s as being just as hiway capable as the new ones.

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
The truck has a 12 valve cummins installed, if it were a 350 I'd run it in a heartbeat!

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
So others can see what we're talking about here without clicking the link first, and after the link quits working:
"1968 Chevy C-60 4 Door Truck, 427 motor, 5 speed trans, 2 speed rear end, 38,000 miles, make a good custom truck or whatever, runs and drives. $2500.00." I like that truck a lot, that is so cool. I agree with the others here contemplating what it would look like with a modified long bed on it. That would be great! Runs and drives for $2500, that sounds like a deal. Too bad I have no room or budget for it (nor Gas money). Isn't that amazing how little rust it has on it? Look at that rear window! |

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
I'd buy that thing in a heart beat! I'd 12valve it and find me a transfer case and front axle to slap under it, let it eat! Very cool find!

Re: Aren't these kinda rare?
That's one heck of a blind spot. It's cool. Too bad they didnt put a little time trying to design a rear door but that wasnt what these truck were about i figure. I have seen these down south never seen anything like this in Canada. Would be a cool truck to mod. So many possabilities with it.
