You don't have them listed but you may want to take a look at Cam Motion as well. They have drop-in cams for the 6.0 truck engines.
Another option is to call some of those vendors and have them custom spec a cam for your specific application. Most are happy to do it and it doesn't cost much (or anything) depending who you go with. That's the route I'm going with the LS2/4L80E swap in my K5. |

Re: Lq9 cam suggestions? Pick one please
A note on the heads . If you are pulling the heads I would use the 243 being you already have them ( both in stock form ) . There is some advantages over the 241 . If not pulling the heads I would leave the 241 on . They are a decent head with a little bigger chamber than the 243. The 243 will give you a little more compression which is a good thing in that engine. 241=66.67cc , 243=64.45 . The runners are 241=200cc , 243=210cc . You should be around a 10.5 to 1 with the 243 .
Also why do you have to pull the heads ,is there a problem . Do not know how many miles is on your engine but if the heads come off I would put some new lifters in as well if north of 150,000 miles . Also you are pretty much at the max spring lift for stock valve springs with that cam. I would also consider a spring upgrade . Your lifters and cam will thank you in the higher rpm range . Just some food for thought . |

I may have misread the original post, but I think the 241 refers to an NV241 transfer case. Wouldn't an lq9 normally have 317 heads? Either way, 243 heads would bump compression and I agree with your advice. I'm just trying to clarify. |

Re: Lq9 cam suggestions? Pick one please
Day , I do believe you are correct . When I quick read it and in my mind I thought someone had put 241 heads on there . You are also correct on the 317 heads . The lq4 and lq9 came with the 317 . The 317 has a 71cc chamber so the 243 head would be a good bump . I would definitely change to the 243 over the 317 for sure .

Re: Lq9 cam suggestions? Pick one please
yeah guys i am putting my 243 heads on the 6.0.
the cam i selected from BTR came as a kit with the correct valve springs. the motor has unknown miles so i am going to put bearings in on lower end while its torn down.

Re: Lq9 cam suggestions? Pick one please
With the 317 heads, LQ4 is 9.4 (dished piston), LQ9 is 10.1 (flat top) so you'll get a bit more compression than listed in the zillion LQ4 posts about the 243 heads. Ought to put you in the neighborhood of 10.9. Just something to think about if you haven't, but since you can get likely get 93 octane in MI, you'll probably be fine. Also probably something a competent tuner can handle.
