Power Steering lines LQ4 to C4?

I have installed an LQ4 engine from a 2004 Silverado 2500 to my 1955.2 Truck. It has C4 front suspension and C4 steering rack. The rack has 2 fittings for the hydraulic lines but I only see 1 hyd fitting from the Silverado pump besides the two slip on fittings for a power steering cooler? Will I need to change the Silverado pump/reservoir?
I promise to add pics .

Thanks in advance.

Re: Power Steering lines LQ4 to C4?

did your 04 silverado donor truck come with hydro boost brakes? that is close to the year when they switched over from vac to hydro. my 03 avalanche still has vac but buddies 04 is hydro.
you should be able to use the silverado pump, just use the pressure line as usual and use only one of the barbed fittings for the return line, plug the other one. you can run a p/s cooler inline on the return line if you feel the need but not a requirement.

I bought the engine only, the truck is long gone
Thanks for the info. I am guessing that the hyd line from the pump will go to the smaller diameter fitting on the rack?
Are these fittings a standard pipe or??

Sometimes you have to cheat and go to the source to find the info. Scroll down the page a tad and you will find the info you need.

Re: Power Steering lines LQ4 to C4?

feed goes from p/s pump to brake booster with a return line coming back (for over pressure i assume). then feed goes from there to p/s gear with return line going to a cooler before returning to pump reservoir. that is why hydroboost pumps have 2 return lines. make sense?

Re: Power Steering lines LQ4 to C4?

in the pic parts numbered 11 and 4 are pressure lines. part 1 is a return line and enteres the reservoir close to the top. the cooler is part 9 and the lines connect to the steering gear outlet, #6, and the lower fitting on the p/s reservoir. the pressure lines use an "o" ring on the fitting at the pump and I think the corvette steering rack input has an "o" ring as well. you could get a new hose made to connect a used hose end fitting from the donor truck and the corresponding rack hose from the corvette. a hydraulic hose shop can make you a pressure hose to connect the two steel hose parts.

Re: Power Steering lines LQ4 to C4?

Thanks gents. I had the high pressure line that was on the ps pump. It is M18 on the rack end and M16 on the pump side.
