Hydroboost Info

I just wanted to take a minute to give you guys a heads up if you are looking at doing a hydroboost upgrade. I had researched this and it appeared everyone was using the hydroboost out of the 90s Chevy Astro vans. I went to the local Pick-N-Pull which had 3 Astro vans in the yard. All the vans had already been stripped of the hydroboost. While I was looking around I came across a 1997 GMC 3500work van which had what appears to the be the exact same hydroboost that is used in the Astro. 15 minutes and $26 later I was out the door with a hydroboost setup including the master cylinder.

So if your local yard doesn't have any Astros or they have been robbed already look for a GMC or Chevy 3/4 or 1 ton van. It should have the same setup. Hopefully this helps someone find what they are looking for.

Re: Hydroboost Info

I used a hydroboost that I got on ebay from a 99 Chevy of some kind for about $100 with master cylinder. It leaked, so I replaced the main seal, and it still leaks...

I ended up using an undrilled hydroboost mounting plate off ebay and drilled the bracket off the factory brake booster to mount to the firewall.

Seems to work okay though, but I haven't actually bled brakes nor did I change where the linkage mounts to my non-hydroboost brake pedal.
