Interchanging Parts- 67' C-10 & 91 Motorhome

Well, here I am wanting to rob parts from my low mile (33,000mi) 454/T-400 Holiday Rambler Monitor motor home and adding them to my 67' C-10. First to be removed and transplanted will be the transmission inter-cooler and hard lines. I thought it would be good to document and inform to readers if they fit perfectly, or need modification. I figure, the motor home is a big block 454 with a T-400 trans. The 67' is a big block 396 also with a T-400 trans. Same thing to same thing should work right?

Well, we are about to find out..... Anyone who knows the outcome, or has anything to add- please feel free to joke and laugh! LOL! A tight budget requires desperate measures and old motor homes are a sacrificial right. HA!

Ok. Not even close.... Don't even crawl under your motor home to look.... You will be disappointed.

I want to pull the engine and trans out of that motor home so bad I can taste it on my lips, but that even looks like a monumental task!

the only problem you will have is getting rid of the motor home they have so much plastic and other crap, its even hard to find a salvage yard to take them. to bad the TH 400 did not come with a gear vendor unit attached, a lot of th400 motor homes had them installed for fuel economy

Not hard to see why when basically only the chassis and running gear is worth anything. The only people who'd want the rest are Monster Truck racing series. Too bad you can't do like Top Gear (the original UK) did and race/demo derby it and leave as much of it on the track as you can!

External dimensions of 454 and 396 engine blocks are the same. Your 396 should be a short water pump. You will want to remove all the brackets from the 396 and transfer them to the 454. The 454 should drop right onto the engine mounts in your 67 truck. You will have to use the old style mounts on the engine side. This is assuming that your truck has the 68-72 style mounts on the frame.

Good information here. It looks to be a bear to remove from the motor home. The engine and trans only has 33K miles on them. If I have to tear it out of there with a cutoff saw, I will... It runs like a dream.
