Rust through above the windshield inside? $500. Tops.

Actually I would pass but if you have to have it no more than $500.

Rust there is because of mice being in the roof area and urinating causing it to rust through.

Good luck!

I would give 1200 for it . Factory air,327,auto. It has more money in parts than that

To the original poster what state do you live in? In Michigan that would fetch $1500-$2000.

That truck has some nice stuff on it...to bad about the rot. I'd give a top of $800 for it.

A cool truck but with that rust you're looking at a parts truck. Theres probably a lot of good parts on it but even so I would want to pay under 1k for sure. I made an offer on a truck once and the guy responded that he could part it out for more than that. I told him thats what he should do then and left. He called and took my offer before I got 5 minutes down the road. Most people do not want to or have the time to part out a vehicle. Just my 2 cents.

Re: what is it worth; 1966 c10 custom lwb

I agree, some items of interest but it's a parts truck at best. The rust in the roof section is what you can see, but it's the rust you don't see that could be so much worse. Being in New Orleans it could have been a Katrina truck (spent time underwater) which means a complete tear down of everything. And that engine compartment is a dumpster fire, yikes what a mess. The red flags on this truck are numerous.

Try to get it for under 800 and make your money selling the parts here. I'll take the A/C center vent if you do

What would you be looking to do with it? Fix it to drive? Flip it? Restore?

In post #7 you answered you were in New Orleans so that was the assumption. Regardless of area the damage that is visible, let alone that which is not makes this a parts truck in my opinion. That engine bay looks like a train wreck with the compressor wired off to the side like that which is probably also indicative of the condition of the rest of the drivetrain.

Ask anyone who has done rust repairs or replacements, its almost always worse than they thought and labor intensive.

For the money it would take to get this thing road worthy I'm sure you could find something much better with less headaches.

Re: what is it worth; 1966 c10 custom lwb

I bought a 66 that's is about a twin to this one, there's about a quarter size rust spot above the windshield but I don't care. The rarity of it alone made it cool to me, paid 650 for it pulled it out of a barn and brought it home. I know the rust is an issue but you don't come across them very often at all. Parts are worth a good amount.

Re: what is it worth; 1966 c10 custom lwb

As Kenfused said. It is always much worse. My 66 cost me 500 bucks. Only thing missing was the horn button that someone lifted while it sat out in the field. I thought it was fairly solid. Ughhh! Inner and outer rockers A and B pilars cab corners and much much more. That's just to get back to solid! One little spot above the passenger sun visor that appeared while sand blasting. I started out just wanting a decent driver. Next thing you know it's a full on frame off! Spent 20 grand! Isn't even close to seeing the road! Another estimated 7-10 to spend before it sees the road. Going on 4 years. Maybe this Sumer??? I hope! Be careful it is a slippery slope! Good luck which ever way you decide to go. I will tell you this though. It's easier to spend a little here and there then to tell the wife your spending 20 thousand or more on an old truck! Lol! At least it was for me.

Yep- that looks like the one you need. Is the outer panel in good shape?

That Black Friday sale got my attention too. Been needing a panel from them- guess I will order it now.

Re: what is it worth; 1966 c10 custom lwb

As complete as it is around here that would be 1,500 to 2,000 all day long. But these trucks seem to be a little pricey around here in the Midwest. If the motor and transmission check out OK it would make a good driver. It is a nicely optioned truck. I would drive it as is, heck, I've driven much worse than that! I can have just as much fun with a $1,000 truck as I can with a $40,000 truck, maybe more. I take my old 66 to cut firewood, go fishing, haul junk, etc after all that's what they are for, that's the fun of it. I think some people are hoping you buy it to part out, can't wait to get their hands on all those goodies. Joseph

Buy it and have fun. My 62 has rust on the doors, but I don't care. When they finally rust out completely, I'll buy new ones and paint the entire truck. Until then, I'm driving it.

Looks like a good truck to me. I have a 64 c10 i drive around that has alot more rot on the cab than that and its not a parts truck. My frame is solid and also rest of body. I say go for it as long as the frame is solid.

I know it may seem complicated, but if it were his, it would be closed, which would just be a way to circumvent the rules. But this is a truck that's not his and he wants to possibly buy, which is okay. Hope that makes sense.
