drag race transmission ? for LS1

Hy all

after using the ls1 in my chevy pickup for the first season , i am totally happy and impressed by the 4gen engines :-)

therefore i am looking for another Project with an LS1 engine ... i am planning to setup a car for the 1/4mile .....

the ls1 will be swapped into the middle of the car.. according to the short wheelbase i dont have that much space to the rear axle.

So do u know which Transmissions are the shortes on the market ? and can handle around 1000 hp

Is there also possibilty to bolt a axle housing directly to the Transmission without a driveshaft ???

I know some weird questions but i hope u can give some informations :-)

Thanks a lot

yeap the car has a mid engine.... it is a VX220 ..does have the same Frame / wheelbase than the Lotus elise...

The car respectively the frame will be lengthen to get the LS1 swap done.

At the end something like Hennessey did with the venom gt.

Google "shorty powerglide" and see if that might work for your project. Its a very common drag race transmission in the states.

Re: drag race transmission ? for LS1

There is a Toyota-built trans thats basically a 2/3 scale copy of the powerglide, often called the ToyoGlide. It can't hold nearly that power in factory form, but there are builders that have made custom versions of it for specialty builds.

Otherwise I 'd suggest looking at a LencoDrive. Its a drag built trans for promods and fuelie cars.
