C5 spindle conversion interest

I am working on a set of control arms to fit Corvette C5 spindles to my 69 C10 and was wondering if there would be much interest in a small production run after further testing. I am trying to keep them a direct bolt on type of deal. Would there be much interest in a set? No idea on price yet but want to keep them as low as possible.

Re: C5 spindle conversion interest

I'm not sure since there is already a few vendors that sell C5 rotors and calipers to work with existing C10 standard and drop spindles.

True, something is out there. But the ATS spindle is for GM cars (A/F/X/G body platforms).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Here is our kit that adapts a C5 caliper onto a 14" rotor, using a C10 spindle.

Re: C5 spindle conversion interest

I know there are kits for adapting the calipers and rotors out there. But what I I am trying to do is use the c5 upright to gain a larger bearing, improved geometry, and reduced unsprung weight. Maybe I am way off track with my thoughts but I want to build the best machine I can. And while I don't have the money for the latest trick parts I am good at designing and building things.

Re: C5 spindle conversion interest

I'm game.

Going with 5 on 4.75 wheels. The Wilwood spindles were on my radar. The C5 interests me as I can also run the vette calipers.

Re: C5 spindle conversion interest

Only thing that would worry me about it is the weight of the truck.A corvette spindle and unit bearing are designed to handle its weight but a truck can weight almost double that.

Re: C5 spindle conversion interest

I already have Z06 brakes and 5x4.75 wheels. I run corvette suspension on my 68 Camaro. The abuse those spindles and C7 bearing assembly's get from autocross and road course use would be way worse than most trucks on here would see unless it had a big block and every extra add on possible in the engine bay. My truck is only 3200lbs but is a stripped down autocross truck

I can only see a benefit if the entire system is designed together. How do you plan to ensure the a-arm locations & pivot points are ideal for the C5 spindle geometry & truck steering arrangement?

Isn't there a difference between C5 & C6/7 spindle/bearing units?

Not how they mount there isn't, I have them on a C6 spindle on my 68 Camaro. The only difference is they don't have wheel speed sensors built in them. The stock C7 bearing is the same SKF bearing that a C6 ZR1 uses other than the wheel speed sensor. They are very strong

Ok. I didn't know if C5's were diff vs C6/7 units since there were improvements/changes in design between C5 & C6 vettes.

I knew the C6/7 mounting arrangement is the same & the strength increased as did the cost for the improved bearing unit (C6 ZR1/C7 SKF unit).

The C5 and C6 spindles are exact, they made some changes in control arm design between them but the spindles are the same.
The C7 bearing is actually really cheap for what it is, they are less than 1/2 the price of a C6 ZR1 bearing.
