Stumped, What does this spring do?

I thought one of you may know what the function of this spring behind the passenger door jamb. In my defense of anything obvious, my truck was partially disassembled basketcase as purchased. Thanks!

No problem. The jack, handle, and lug wrench come up for sale on the parts board from time to time. There is also a member selling the bags on the parts board. Here are some pictures of all of the parts....

Ford Explorer and late 90's to mid 2000's 150's use the same parts.. other than maybe lug nut sizing..
Our ford uses the same basic parts as my truck, but I have not bothered to see if the nut size is the same.. as my truck came with aftermarket wheels that the stock lug wrench wouldn't work anyways..
