47-55 Door Weatherstriping with Trique Easy Latches

One of the final things to do has been to improve the door fit & overall operation. The Easy Latches were just installed, the doors close perfectly and the shop has made some minor adjustments at the hinges so the fit is better than ever...

...however, we are all skeptical of using the stock weatherstripping again as it had to be removed to make this possible. We're not sure it was installed correctly in the first place. The photos I've attached show two possible positions with the old weatherstrip. I know there is a right way & a wrong way.... but even so, they are too large and won't compress enough. After calling Trique manufacturing and running this by them, they (being aware of the door fit problems with 47-55s) suggested a hollow core product as carried by Soffseal.

A call to them & a sales associate referred me to this product:

http://www.soffseal.com/store/main.a...tail&item=9971

....which looks like every stock product out there. Anyway, while I wait for a call back from a tech, any ideas, thoughts??

Re: 47-55 Door Weatherstriping with Trique Easy Latches

my buddy has a 54 which he ordered the original door seals for. he installed them and couldn't get the door to close properly, not even close. the door fit the opening and surrounding body panels well, before, it just seemed like the seals wouldn't flex/squash enough to allow the door to close and latch properly. he removed that product and ordered some soffseal and installed. the door fits and closes properly now. I highly recommend that product because it is a softer spongy material rather than a harder material that needs to sit with the doors latched for considerable time before it fits-sort of. beware there is a right way and a wrong way to install the seal. the profile is a bit different that stock so read the directions or ask the questions when you purchase.

That doesn't look like the correct seal. go over to https://www.metrommp.com
and look for LP-40 and LP- 40A A (thinner than LP 40)

...if I understand this right, LP-40 is the following:

http://www.steelerubber.com/door-wea...rip-70-0145-73 ...on the Steele Rubber site? Measures 1/2" x 11/16" ?...also, same price/ft.

Someone mentioned Steele to me a while back - I wonder how many feet (@ $4.00/ft)
