The purple colour glove box is the 69 CST the colour was a one year deal by gm Canada for the royal visit from what I was told. But has no a/c.

But the Cheyenne is just so cool so which do you think is the better buy? Price is same but I am wondering which is a smarter buy?

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

There's a super custom on kijiji bronze white that looks like a good deal in St. Albert it's twice the money but it looks like it might be a better buy then the other 2 you listed. Option wise the Cheyenne looks as though it would require a lot of work if you want it back to full Cheyenne options that Chrome etc etc is very expensive to replace new. The 69 doesn't have discs up front keep in mind so another expense if you want them. Just my opinion.

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

My mistake it's spruce grove. It's a custom super /white bronze white. Black interior possibly a highlander..my 72 super custom is a highlander. It's listed as Edmonton but it's actually spruce grove. Look pretty clean from the pics.

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

Oh ok thanks I was trying to see Cheyenne Super or this CST would be the rarer one. I have a tone of parts and body places for a 67 to 72 trucks so the body work would be somewhat easy it's mostly the high trim levels and things like rare options like a/c or odd cool colour is what was looking at.

I really wish of Engineering was a big block or something lol

If rare is what your looking for id say the CST then because it's a Canadian Color only and only one year.

If the purple was a one year only - and its factory original - that would be my choice. That would be a rare bird. The options you can always add.

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

I've seen lots and lots of Cheyenne Cheyenne super Sierra Sierra Grande customs etc but not many custom deluxe and even fewer super customs. I think in the GMC line I've only seen about 3 super customs. I didn't even know they existed until I just happened to buy a 72 super. But a special paint Canadian truck I would say would likely be the rarest. I remember a few even rarer trucks in later years I think it was 1980 when we had an Alberta black gold edition. Then a Rocky Mountain edition.

I'll ask the guy next time I see him he's only a few miles out of town where I live. It's still out on the farm buts it had a tough life but who knows he might let her go. If you remember the trucks, they were to commemorate Alberta's 75th Anniversary there were lots of them around gold top gold centre strip gold strips on the hood and rest was painted black. They were a real beauty. I rember the ad. Black gold strike up a deal gold interior

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

I don't recall exactly on the options. I think most were loaded up pretty good. They all came with gold coloured rally wheels to the best of my knowledge. I know the engines were available with big or small. The one I had had a 350. I knew of some with 454. Mine was a full load truck.

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

Mine was a long box.
I just checked out that truck on kijiji you are referring to.
It's very similar to what I had.
Mine was a 350 long box it had Chrome on the back of the hood like a piece of plastic stuff don't know how to explain it. The grill was gold also (just the plastic insert). It had buckets and console. The one thing I didn't like was the speakers mounted on the door thought it looked dumb and I'd rather have had the map pockets.

Re: 72 chevy Cheyenne Super or 69 CST

Hmm. 72 Cheyenne Super, a Purple 69 CST, or a square black gold thingy... Seems like a no brainer to me. If you REALLLLY like purple, I agree that is the most rare - but you gotta really really like the purple. The Cheyenne Super will have more "standard" upgrades that are part of the trim package (headliner, wood dash and gb trim, etc, bright tailgate handle cover (not that I'd buy a truck solely for it's tailgate handle cover...) and so on. But a CST is no slouch either - it was the top of the line trim in 69. The SPIDs are comparable, even though the 69's appears more full of stuff. I don't see them as all that different, option-wise. Sooo, it comes back to this basic question I believe:

What do you want more, and actually rare purple CST or disk brakes on a slightly more common but still top of the trim 72 (in a great color combo)?

I know which one I'd choose. Well, hmm, maybe I don't either! TOUGH one.

It's funny that the truck you had has bucket seats and center console I like that look way better then a bench seat.
