8' Bed Upper Trim Removal ?
Parting a '70 Chevy 3/4t fleet side with the complete upper trim in pretty decent condition. Want to remove it without damaging and dinging it up really bad. Can it be done without the plastic (?) spatula type trim tools or do I need to bite the bullet and pick up a set? Any tips on how to do this with common shop tools or as I mentioned, bit the bullet and buy a decent set of trim tools. Won't be using them a lot most likely but sometimes special tools are needed.

Re: 8' Bed Upper Trim Removal ?
I know these trucks inside and out, but I have trouble remembering things I haven't dealt with in a while. Isn't there a screw, at one end? The front? I don't have one with upper trim anymore. I seem to recall once a screw is removed you can carefully tap it to slide off the clips to the rear.

Super easy to pull the upper moulding push down and roll on one side and on the other side of the truck you will push up and roll you can have them off in less than a minute each. You will feel the clip compress when you get it right definitely mask the bed sides if you are preserving the paint

Re: 8' Bed Upper Trim Removal ?
Thanks for the replies on the trim removal. Will give it a shot this weekend hopefully. Weather guesser says rain mixed with snow, will have to see if he is right.
![]() When I get the molding removed and it is in decent usable condition I will be placing a sale on the parts board. Have seen several members suggest shipping long trim in PVC or heavy cardboard tubing. Sure have to go by UPS I would think as USPS has a limit on length. Have to wait and see when I get it all removed.
