Shifting linkage help
I have a 71 Chevy c10 with a 350, and th350 trans. When I go full throttle in drive, the forks coming off the transmission where it shifts, the linkage pops off there every time. When I manual shift it, going from 1st to 2nd it seems like it's in a bind and it requires a lot of force on the gearshift to shift into 2nd. Is there anything I can do so it will not fall off anymore?? I just finished replacing my trans mount, and it didn't help at all

Re: Shifting linkage help
What about drives side engine mount? Certainly sounds like things are moving around under the hood.

Re: Shifting linkage help
I looked at them, they don't look too bad. I figured if the motor was moving around enough to pop it out, then the fan should be hitting the plastic molding somewhere, but it isn't.

Re: Shifting linkage help
Is it coming off on the transmission or the linkage on the steering column? Mine kept falling off by the steering column because the grommets were loose/broken.

I would guess front motor mounts are broken.... Does your linkage look like this? Note the spring, If it isn't there it could cause your problem.... LockDoc
