Brothers Trucks 60-72 SUBURBAN-Panel 4" drop springs REVIEW.

I ordered a set of the 4" Suburban drop springs. When they came, I thought they forgot to ship one in the box as the box was VERY light. They were smaller than any drop springs I had ever ordered. I immediately emailed Brothers speaking with the sales manager and he said what I had was correct. I expressed my concerns about the size of them and the light duty appearance of the product saying there is NO WAY this will support the rear of a Suburban but maybe a Camaro. Before installing, I once again made contact with Brothers VIA the phone this time and re expressed my concerns, I was once again told they were correct and this guy actually went and looked at them in the warehouse. Well, this weekend we put them in. As I lowered the Suburban on the ground, it kept going down...4 inches 5 inches, 6 inches, finally stopping at 6.5 inches....oh yea...resting on the bump stops. I dare say if i removed the bump stops it would probably be sitting on the axle. I compared it to one of my trucks with 5" rear drop springs and it has 2" to go before hitting the stops. 4 inches of drop should leave me with 2+ inches of travel and not sitting on the frame/axle/bump stops. I emailed Brothers today so Im interested to see what they say and how this can be resolved.

Has anyone else tried these springs?

I'm guessing you are working on a '67-'72 Sub which is much heavier than a '60-'66 Sub. Those springs will physically fit in the '60-'72 suspension but will NOT result in the same ride height.

My guess is the Brother's ones are actually the CPP ones. I used the CPP ones but I removed my factory bump stops and put 3/4" ones directly on the frame over the axle. I have about 2" of travel so I know they are sitting much lower than a 4" drop would have been. I agree, for "heavy duty" springs, they seem to be fairly lightweight.

Since the rear sits lower than I wanted and the front ended up about an inch higher than I wanted, I am really thinking of just moving over to airbags and be done with it.

Hotchkis has 1/4" thick shims that come with some of there spring kits. Gives you ability to ad a 1/2 to the spring height. That gives you a little more at the wheel. Just an idea to get your burb up a little in the back. The front may settle a bit once you drive it some. Mine settled close to an inch in the first few thousand miles.

Wow !!! If that's the right spring maybe you will need 2 inch drop springs with a 1 or 1.5 inch blocks.

Brothers is researching the springs NOW thinking the ones sent to them by their vendor are boxed incorrectly. Isnt that what I said weeks ago?

They are working to resolve the problem and will be sending a replacement pair and shipping slip for the others.

Are you installing the rear shock relocators also?

Here you go folks. Pictured below are a set of STOCK pick-up rear springs beside the Brothers heavy duty 4" rear SUBURBAN drop springs.

As mentioned above, I didn't need to install them to see there was a problem but we now have the proof for the vendor.

I have NOT heard back from Brothers on their research or findings. They offered to send me another set, but for grins I put a used set of stock 1/2 ton truck springs in it and got the desired look I was going for. They did pay for the return shipping. Because of their obvious lack of knowledge of their products, I would probably use another vendor. I did notice I think it was GMC Pauls had some listed. I know for a fact he would have a better understanding of the products he is pushing.

They all must be selling the same springs. Looks like the only HD spring being done for the burbs and panels is a 4". I can see where a set of the pickup springs could get mis-boxed or mis-labeled. For a 65 Suburban they are about 500 pounds total weight heaver than a pickup and 600 pounds heavier on the rear. I know what drop a 800 pound roadking gives me with the 3" CPP springs and its about 2 1/4". So now your install of the stock springs makes me wonder about what a 2" truck spring would look like with the weight of the burb. My pickup rides good with weight in it so now time to ponder the possibilities.

They recommend 1" less spring than drop desired for Suburban.

You want 4" drop...get 3" truck springs
5" drop......4" truck springs
