Fuel gauge ground

Gauge is pegged at 3 o'clock? I pulled the tan wire off and ground it and pegs at E. I'm sure there supposed to be a ground at the tank and sending unit? I posted a pic. Thanks fellas

So since grounding your tan wire sends the gauge to empty, everything from the wire back to the gauge is working (no open wire).

You could have a bad connection from your tan wire to the top of the sending unit, or some physical damage internally to the sending unit. More likely, it's base might not be making good contact with the tank at the opening (rust), so it isn't grounded. I bet your tank itself is grounded fine.

You could test your grounding by running a separate piece of wire from the top of the sending unit to a known good ground (with key on). If your gauge starts working, you know there's a ground problem.

Then I would pull out the sending unit and clean and inspect. Then clean around the base to make good contact.
