C20 rear diff.......

A friend recently picked up a survivor 1969.... The title, door jamb VIN plate, frame and SPID serial number(s) all match correctly.

Upon decoding the VIN, it was originally a C20 camper special, 2 wheel drive, it was converted to 5-lug front and rear, and currently has a 12-bolt rear diff...

The SPID does not list the HO52 rear diff, would a 3/4 had an 8-lug 12-bolt from the factory?

Thanks....

Re: C20 rear diff.......

HO52 isn't on my '68 SPID. I assumed that was the base rear end for this truck, so it wasn't called out on the SPID.

Re: C20 rear diff.......

Thank you, I am seeing many pics of 2 wheel drive C20's with a floating rear hub visible.... I assume that is the HO52 rear diff....

Mine are both Dana 60 on leaf springs. 8 lug full floater.
Don't know what differences there might be in the 69 to 72 model years.

Yep, but that's not the OP's axle.

C20 could have had a Dana 60 or an Eaton H0xx.
I think big block trucks primarily got the Dana and small block the Eaton.

To your question, 3/4 tons had 8-lug wheels.

Pics would indicate if it's an Eaton diff. I have one but it's not listed on the SPID.

My small-block '72 K2500 came with a Dana60, PO swapped it for a Dana70.
