How to crimp the end on a parking brake cable
Anyone know? I have a swedge tool (big bolt-cutter looking crimping tool) but when I crimped a standard aluminum ferrule on there, it got ripped off the first time I hit the park brake pedal. So that didn't work.
Are there steel or iron ferrules that actually work, or is that the wrong approach? Even tried to TIG one on and spike it, no luck. Has anyone successfully created their own custom-length parking brake cable?

Re: How to crimp the end on a parking brake cable
Dave I know you have a super clean ride and are probably looking for an OEM type look and function, but... here's what I did. And it ain't going no where. It's solid and I'm leaving it like this. I am merciless and leg press my parking brake. Simple garage spring wire rope clips/clamps. You could do this as an interim solution until you find someone with a good ferrulling tool.

Re: How to crimp the end on a parking brake cable
When I was a kid, eighteen, I worked for a company called Swinerton and Wallberg. I worked on a few high rise towers. They used that type of clamp on 1/2" safety cables. Only two clamps. We used to hang from the side of the buildings using the cables, to hang concrete forms. Whenever I see this type of clamp I think of hanging from that building over Wilshire Blvd, what a hoot that was!
The clamps are solid, and once again... Ugly Works!
