1966 lay frame build
I didn't want to start a thread until I had something decent to show off. I am building a 1966 C10 SWB BBW factory a/c cab that will lay frame and it will have a LQ4 with a performance LS3 top end. Started with rust repair. BTW, I hate the rust repair.

After the cab was rust free and the chassis components from Choppin Block came in, I realized that I did not want to use the factory frame rails. I decided to fab rails from the back half to the front bumper. Started on the welding table.

Finally got it down on the ground and dropped the motor in. The stock exhaust manifolds do not fit. Does anyone know a good header for an LS3 that are compact?

Looks good so far. I used a Headman Header for LS swaps on my last one. They have gone up in price a bunch since I bought them.

I always go long periods of time w/o posting. I was able to get my truck tore down and the frame reassembled.
Freshened the look of the motor and accessory drive. |

Decided to try out the fuaxtina paint job. It tuned out fair. Wish I was handy with an airbrush to make it look more real with some detail work.

For me, it was essential that I one pieced the windows. I don't mind the way the vent windows look, but I can't stand the whistling. I started this project when there was not a kit available. One Piece has since started producing a kit. I had custom glass cut and tempered to templates I made. I welded track around the inside of the window frame so that it would hold a proper rubber. I used sweep material I found on eBay. I also took out 3.5" of the stock style mirrors. I think they turned out nice.

This post is a little out of chronological order, before I installed the interior. I had a trim carpenter buddy help me build a box for behind the seat. Gave me a place to mount a sub, an amp, my air ride computer, and (2) 6x9s. I have 6.5s and tweeters mounted in kick panels. I'll have to get a picture of those later.
