Anyone convert to a flatbed
and if so what is entailed

I haven't converted to one, but we had a factory 62 flat dually, so I can tell you how they are made. On top of the frame, there are no sheetmetal towers that hold up the cross sills. There are lengths of wood that BIG U bolts hold to the frame. This wood flattens out the curve of the frame. Cross sills go on top, wood on top, frame around the wood.
