72 factory cruise control experts - check this out

Just got in a '72 4X4 Suburban with cruise control. Original owner since late 80's and he said cruise was on it when he got it. It all looks correct and untouched, even with carb brackets. However, it has the engage button on the end of the blinker like the late 70's - 80's had. I looked underdash and saw no evidence of a dash mounted switch. Thoughts?

That's factory on the 72. It had the button on the turn signal switch. I think 71 had it that way also. That is a factory setup. Looks nice.

72 had the cruise master switch, I would guess that was added on.

Every other unit I've owned had a "cruise master" button mounted under the dash. First I've seen like this.

Cruise was a dealer option in 71-72, not listed on SPID.

That's what I would think also. However, I am not 100% on it.

Re: 72 factory cruise control experts - check this out

I had seen one of the dealer installed cruise control units as pictured back in 1976 on a 71 - 72 chevy truck. That has stuck in my mind ever since. Never have seen another one until today. My current 72 will get one of these in the future. Looks almost like it belongs there. Clean install.
