Please help...have lost motivation!

How many of you have lost motivation on your truck? I recently started a new job, and was using my '69 as a daily driver. On the first day to my new job, I dropped two cylinders in my 350. I parked it in a shopping center and made it to work (didn't want to do any further damage). I got a buddy of mine to give me a ride home. I was going to hook up the car hauler to my wife's Expedition, but......someone stole the ramps!!!! After a little cussing and kicking, I decided to just have my wife drop me off at the truck and follow me home (about 15 miles), and hope I didn't kill the motor. Got in the truck, merged onto the freeway, and the trans wouldn't shift out of low!!! As of right now, the truck is sitting in another shopping center in a not so nice neighborhood. Don't know how I'll get it home (200.00 + for wrecker) and almost don't care if I do. Shoot me up with some motivation.

You need to get the truck home, then just walk away from it for a while.......it will call you back after a while That is one thing I like about old trucks......if I was running a stock car, it would be an every weekend & bust the knuckles all week deal I can, & have closed the door on the garage & walked away from my "favorite truck" many times, & probably will many more times before I am done. Dont know if that helps much, but good luck.....crazyL

Can't blame ya for wanting to "pull the plug" on that one. Get it home by hook or by crook and put it on the back burner for awhile. Do like crazy says.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.

Take $39 and rent a tow dolly from U-Haul. Its a lot cheaper than $200.

But lie to them, and tell them you're towing a Vega, or something small, or they might not let you have it!!!!

I know I have lost motivation with my trucks.

The original 307 in my truck ran good.It burned oil though.I had a 350 laying in my garage.I put a new cam, timing chain set,new headers and put it in my truck. After getting all the kinks worked out of the new motor I finnally got to drive it.

I had plastigaged the bearings before I put it in and they all where within spec.I had to take the motor out a few times to get everything right.(header not clearing the clutch linkage,I put the throwout bearing in wrong.)

The motor ran great and I was so so happy. My truck was finnally pretty quick.

3 days later I am down at a local street racing spot.I pull out and dump the clutch.I am not sure how far I revved it.(the light in my tach is broke)Anyway the truck loses all power.I drive it to a buddy of mine's house and wait till the next day and try and get it home. The motor ends up locking up.Taking the crank with it.I know 350 cranks are a dime a dozen.I also know you can build a 350 dirt cheap.I got so aggravated that it broke 3 days after I got it back togother that I haven't really touched it since I took the motor out.

One day I will rebuild a motor and have my truck back again. But for right now I am alright driving my cavalier. It gets 20+mpg,Has a really nice stereo and it has power steering and power disk brakes.

I can relate, that's where I'm at with my 2wd, I've decided to get it running good and sell it (if it will bring enough on auction next month).......it drives super nice and the brakes are excellent, but it's just soooooooo rusty, by the time I get done fixing the 4x4 body up, this 2wd will just be another old POS that doesn't run good and the brakes probably won't work well anymore and so on and so forth. It's hard to knock a project in the head, but enough projects is enough projects, between my 4x4, my tractor and my f@rd ( olds powered of course), and keeping the daily drivers running, I don't need anymore projects......but if you love the truck, don't let it go. as stated above, let it sit awhile, sooner or later you will want it again.
