Question carb spacer installation

i still have my 1" open carb spacer. how long would this take to install and do i have to disconnect everything or can i basically lift the carb up then sit it down on this spacer then tighten it down? the d*mn thing didnt come with instructions so im guessing edelbrock thinks you oughta know what your doin

btw this is a wood spacer open bore, if i dont like this im goin to try a divided bore and if i dont like either ill have 2 car spacers for sale if anyones interested, they'll probally only have 80 miles of them or a tank of gas

You need to have longer carb studs to make up for the extra inch of height. The open spacer will help higher rpm but will kill your low end torque. good luck

so it would help buzzing down the interstate more then around town right? Any suggestions as to what would help all around? maybe 2" divided spacer or something similar?

I think all it would help is higher rpm. You might wanna check the throttle cables and detent cable with the carb sitting 1 or 2 inches higher.

i'd skip the install of the spacer. if you were racing the truck, where you would actually gain from high end hp, you might see a difference. in town and on the highway, which is where you need it the most, it will kill your low end torque. i had an open 1" spacer on my 82 for a while, and if i was racing stoplight to stoplingt, i did notice a slight gain. but it wasnt enough to compensate for the soggy low end when i was trying to drive normally.
