One piece drive shaft?
Currently I have a 5.5 / 7 inch drop on my 70, witha 350 and Saginaw 3 speed and my driveshaft is not able to align the carrier bearing on the crossmember, so can I go with a one piece drive shaft? Or do I need to get my 2 piece shortened?

Re: One piece drive shaft?
I have a 70 with a 350/350 combo and a 4/6 ECE drop and converted to a one piece drive shaft. Stopped by one of the local machine shops and they did all the measuring and built me a drive shaft. Not sure on that drop you have.....may want to stop by a reputable machine shop and have them take a look at it.

Re: One piece drive shaft?
It depends on how long your truck is/driveshaft needs to be. most swb and lwb trucks can run a one piece shaft.
Take your drive shaft needs to a drive shaft shop. I've never seen a machine shop that has dropped the $40k on a drive shaft balancer or all of the needed setups required to properly balance a one piece shaft much less multiple piece drive shafts. |

Re: One piece drive shaft?
Sorry, Guess i should have been more specific.....a local reputable machine shop that has the capabilities of making and balancing......i have had two different drive shafts built (one for the 70 and one for a 41 chevy truck) by two differnt local machine shops and both did a great job building and balancing them.

Re: One piece drive shaft?
Bad_man_72 is correct that not many have the proper equipment to build and balance.
