Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
-
Had to go to the landfill today, weigh in, weigh out. Empty it weighed 5,720# minus my dead butt (165#) equals 5,555 Pounds. GM crate 350/NV4500 manual trans. LockDoc

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
These trucks are comparatively light - my 1970 C2500HD Longhorn barely cracks 4000 pounds, whereas my Range Rover SUV, with a ton of exotic and light materials, is more than 6500.

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
My 69 GMC half-ton, long box, 350/350 is 3880 with a quarter tank of gas, and nobody in it.
For comparison, I had a 2006 BMW 3 series coupe, it weighed approx 3600 pounds.

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
Don't forget, these trucks seriously lack BS. Just what they need to be to get the job done...for 45 or more years.
I forget what the '70 157" C/30 I had that had an 11' Reading low-profile utility bed and 15' pipe racks weighed. But, I know it was plus 6,000#. That truck was never empty, though, the bins were full of tools even on the rare day the bed and racks were empty. In this state a 1/2t or 3/4t gets registered at 6,000# and you can bump it up to 10k. My '92 K3500 reg. cab SRW diesel had a Reading Space Saver cap (topper/canopy) with rack on top and tools in the bins. That thing weighted about 8k. The 8-lug 2500s are basically the same truck, so if mine was a 2500 it would have been overweight by a couple 1000# with the over the counter registration. I take my '72 K2500 to the landfill and scrap yard from time to time. I can't say what it weighs. I'll have to dig up a landfill ticket and see (scrap yard receipts go in the waste basket conveniently located at the pay window )

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
Unfortunately no. I would like to add a hoist to it though. I have a reservoir and electric pump for it. Thanks.
Thanks. I use it a lot. LockDoc

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
That would make one great truck for a landscaping business. Make it a dump bed. That would make people take notice. Great advertising piece for sure.

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
Surprised it weighs more than my '85 C3500 with a 454 and automatic - it's between 5,200 and 5,300 with one half tank of gas. I suppose the stake bed and dually equipment add weight. My '67 C10 'Burb (327/4-speed) weighs 4,600 - just a few hundred pounds more than a Volt.

Re: Weighed the '72 C30 Dually Today
I really like that truck Leon. My 89 V3500 4door dually weighs in at 7875#. That's with two empty tanks and the back seat removed. She's my big girl....

Thanks guys. I had a full tank of gas but no other baggage except for me... It would be a lot handier if it had a dump. When I took the load of old shingles from the 16x24 garage I re-roofed to the re-cycle station I had to unload them by hand....Bummer! LockDoc
