my 65 came with a 350 sbc when I bought it,i know its not original.and the guy I bought it from didn't know much about it either,its got a blue block though,anybody know anything about the blue block what year or type of vehicle it came out of .thx for the help.

Not 100% sure but I think my 79 Chevy truck had a blue colored engine in it. It was a 4x4 but I think that really didn't matter.

During the 1977 model year GM started painting most all their engines "Corporate Blue". They stayed with that color up into the early 80's before changing to black.

To get more info about the engine, you can look up the code that is stamped into the block just ahead of the passenger side cylinder head. The first letter indicates the engine assembly plant. The next two numbers indicate the assembly date. And the remaining letter(s) identify the original application and horsepower. There might also be a VIN derivative stamped there too that would match up to the vehicle the engine originally came from.
