Rock protection on QTR Panels

Looking for a way to protect the new paint behind the tires on the QTR Panels.

I was thinking about a patch of 3M Clear Vinyl. I've seen it more and more on new cars/trucks.

Has anyone used this for rock protection or something else better?

Thanks,

Paul

I wouldn't use it. It ends up discoloring and looks like crap. I believe there is a chrome set of protectors that can be installed.

With the 3M clear film there's a wax like product that you buy specifically for using on the 3M film that prevents the UV light from damaging it over time. My brother has a 2006 Civic that's had 3M since new and you can barely tell it's there.

Re: Rock protection on QTR Panels

I've detailed a lot of cars that have this stuff on. I would never put it on my car. It looks terrible over time and once it gets to that point, there is no making it look better. Just sayin.

Re: Rock protection on QTR Panels

I bought a roll of clearsheild and I have it on the front edge of my hood (bugs) , top of my bed rails , lower fenders , lower door jamb where I drag my foot and maybe a couple other places for spot protection . If any of it gets messed up or starts to look bad I just replace it . Its pretty easy to remove and replace . As stated above that it don't last forever but neither does paint in those spot areas . A lot easier to replace film that paint . You cant put it on and think it's forever . Last I put on was a couple years ago , but mine stays in the shop .
