'71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
Just wondering how many out there have factory Manual Disc's ?
I have Manual Disc's on my '72 C-10. I believe it was a pretty low production number. Anyone have any stats on it ?

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
High production - in 71-72 disc was all you could get. I would wager that a ton of "farm trucks" like my 71 were made. I have a base model LWB without any power assists.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
I have always believed that with disks, you really needed power assist. Can you comment on how much pedal effort is needed for a hard stop with manual disks.
Reason I ask is that the power brake booster on the firewall looks crappy, in my opinion, and it's in the way when you want to work on the engine, so I like manual brakes.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
The Manual Disc work great. I've been always a fan of Manual Brakes anyway and I find no notice-able difference in pedal pressure between the two. If there is a small difference, I would say the Disc Brakes are actually a little easier to apply. Stopping power is somewhat notice-able though.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
I agree there, but most of them were "Power Disc Brakes".
Manual's are at least somewhat rare.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
Mine has manual disc from the factory, what I learned to drive on 14 years ago too.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
My 72 was manual disc and was good until you hooked up a trailer or had a load. It got scary real fast. Converted to power and never looked back. My friend has a 70 Camaro with manual discs. Not a friendly car to slow down in if the driver is a light weight.

Re: '71 -'72 Manual Disc Brakes
No stats, but I would think a lot of trucks came with manual discs in 71-72. I think I may even have a couple here.
