Car seat addition

We just had our first baby 7 months ago. She's finally get big enough to hang with me lots more. I really enjoy my 71 but forgo taking it when she can go with me.
I have a bench seat and would love to put her in the middle and mom and I can take our places.
My idea is to add anchors off the stock inside belts (lap belts). Using these anchors I can attach her car seat mount and snap her car seat in.

Any thoughts from anyone about this plan?

Re: Car seat addition

I had 3 belts in the front of my 70 GMC and just belted backwards into the middle one.

My 71 Chevy had all 3 belts up front.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Car seat addition

My daughter just announced that I'm fixing to be a grandpaw so I have been a lot about the car seat situation lately.
I showed my wife this.

Re: Car seat addition

I've had my 1 yr. old neice's carseat (rear facing) in the front and back seats of the 'Burb several times and just put the middle belt up over the notches (intended for such use) on each side. Plenty of room for the passenger on each side of it - 4th is just a pain to catch when she's in front.

that's hilarious! We did't even have car seats, we loved it when momma had to stop short, we all went flying! Like goin to the amusement park without leaving the car.

to answer rowdy, there's room & it's nice to have the child right beside you, I didn't like my kids in the back seat, I could't see them well. I was a nervous dad & was always worried they would choke on something (I have no idea what) When my wife drove she spent more time looking at the kids in the rear view than she did on the road.

That's great. It won't fly at my house either but that's a blast from the past

Re: Car seat addition

I would also go to your local Fire Department. Most offer free car seat inspections and info. I would show them what you got and ask their opinion on how to make it as safe as possible. It's been over 21 years since iv had a car seat in my vehicle so I know I'm gonna be scared to death!!
