Finally got a K30!
I've wanted one off and on for around 10 years and finally got one bought. Always seemed like they were either too overpriced or too far away but I found this one that fit the bill on both parts. It's an 89, definitely has some issues but will be a fun fixer upper that I may keep or wind up turning loose of for the right money. Here's the specs carbed 350/400/205 d60/14bff hydraboost, factory non air truck (sucks but oh well) dual tanks and manual windows/locks. It has a match set of nice looking mud terrains on older style bullet holes.
I'll take more pics when I get it home, but here is one from the ad. Lmk what you think, the ladder hunting rack will be the first to go. |

Re: Finally got a K30!
The plan is to get it home and super clean everything and get it running top notch. Try to work some of the bigger dents out without paint work. Put on a correct back bumper, massage the front bumper back where it's supposed to be, might even replace the side trim. Install a better windshield, etc.. I'm looking forward to having a 4x4 beater again after 4 years of driving nice vehicles. Especially since my last beater started out as a half ton and I swapped in all 1 ton pieces. This way I'm starting with all the good stuff

Thanks man. I'll probably start a build thread on it. I wish I already had it home.

Cool truck. I hope you'll start a build thread, even if you just clean it up. It's always fun to watch these things be brought back to life.

Re: Finally got a K30!
Got her home! Seems like a solid old truck. 4.56 gears and posi. Bought new in Oregon and wound up in Texas. Now she's an okie.

Re: Finally got a K30!
Thanks guys. Making progress. Swapped in a tilt column out of my 84 silverado parts truck (blue truck had no keys, no tilt, and Scottsdale wheel), cleaned and checked everything out before installing and it seems great so far. Vacuumed a shop vac full of rat poop out of it before rolling around in it. I love the seats in this thing, they are fully adjustable captains chairs front and rear with fold down consoles with cupholders. Got some rat chewed wiring fixed and got it to crank and run for a second off ether. Now gotta get the in tank pump working and keep chipping away.
Thinking about naming it Papa SMURF. May get it in vinyl in around 5"x30" with a papa smurf character and put it on the bedside on each side. Kinda goofy but I think it'd make the old truck even more fun, everyone would sure know it's name! Lol |

Re: Finally got a K30!
Here's a pic of the inside. The house carpet on the floor will come up, and hopefully the blue vinyl floor mat looks as good all over as it does on the passenger side.

Re: Finally got a K30!
Made a bunch of progress. New fuel tank and pump kit from rockauto. Fixed a bunch of odds and ends all over it and did a full tune up. Got to cruise it around a good amount today and it seems like it's gonna be a solid old truck. Next is redo the headliner, finish changing the fluids, and start scrubbing the sap off of it.

Re: Finally got a K30!
More progress. This this runs tip top now. Flushed the cooling system 100%, tidying up a bunch of stuff all around it. Redid a factory air cleaner and stripped the trim off the side to replace with silverado style chrome. Also gonna put on a set of wheel opening moldings

Re: Finally got a K30!
Yes a v3500. Lol. Today it got wheel opening moldings, new headliner and a new windshield. Here's the kicker though, I've decided I'm gonna let it go. I'd like to keep it and build exactly what I want but right now isn't the best time for me to take on another big project. I've got to build a shop at my house (starting in about 6 weeks) for the bigger jobs to be doable, so I'll sell this one and hopefully find another one when the timing and money is more in my favor.

Re: Finally got a K30!
My first headliner in several years. I was very happy with the end result considering the flappy one that was in it
