Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Hi! I am new to the forum, I just bought a 1970 swb truck that shows it was a cab and chassis originally, model# cs10703. I am just wondering if anyone knows what it means in terms of the potential value of the truck if restored properly. It currently has a shortbed stepside on it that appears to be off of a 67 (no lights in fenders). Thanks!

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Thanks! I have looked at that, but I am curious as to the effect on final value since I cannot find a estimator tool like NADA or Hemmings that lists the cab & chassis option. The vin # search won't even recognize this vin # even though it is definitely correct as an original cab and chassis 115"wb truck.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
I found the values once awhile back I will try to find it again.
I found an value estimate chart. I also have a Cab and Chassis. Most of the Cab and Chassis trucks are not the high value trucks. Like one person said on here before Just because it is Rare does not mean is worth more. I will try to see if I can find that again. I just kept looking(onBing) and stumbled on a value chart. |

Thanks! That is kind of what I thought, but just thought I would see what folks know. Doesn't matter much to me, I wanted a 70 swb stepside and that is what I have. I am HAPPY! It'll look the same at 50 mph.

Welcome to the forum. Is that a small rear window cab? The picture doesn't look like a small window.

Welcome, sweet truck too! Does it still have the C&C sticker on the column?

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
There should be a sticker on the column right in front of the cluster. I'll post a pic.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
This one doesn't have that. It has had ps added though, so maybe a different column too? 3 on the floor, but the column still has the provisions for the shifter, so not sure.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Many changes over the years, and they can't tell their own stories! Mine began life as a 12' box truck and ended up on a farm with a seeder mounted on it. Could be more but I'll probably never know!

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Yeah, kinda makes the mind wander. I am curious as to the use for a shortbed 1/2 ton. I might have to see if there is a way to look back over title history or something.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Possibly a service body was added at some point. I know mine had a box on it because of the jamb sticker had it written on it.

Yeah, that makes it a little easier to know what it had. Unfortuneately, I don't see any markings on this one.

Bummer! Regardless it's still nice solid truck you can build your way.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
It won't be as valuable to some collectors that only want numbers matching trucks but shouldn't be any different than a cut down long bed to short bed. Only the heavily modified or original heavily optioned trucks bring the high dollar price tags. All the others are usually the best parts people can come up with to put their trucks together. Not a whole lot of nice trucks in our area due to the rust belt but they can be fixed if you want to spend the time and money.

Re: Factory Cab & Chassis 1/2 ton 1970
Thanks. That is kind of what I figured, but value can definitely be sacrificed here due to the fact that the truck is what I want and I don't plan to sell it.
