Tailgate value

What would a 71/72 chevy factory take off tailgate be worth that is in mint shape, but missing the handle and side arms.

Re: Tailgate value

In the last year I have seen a plain Jane gate go for $700 up to the Cheyenne Super gate for $1,200. IMO the Super is worth a decent amount more than the plain one. I feel 2 tone is also worth more. And original paint is a must.
The missing handle will hurt the value. The arms not as much, but the handle would for me.

Reproductions are a lot better now. Not perfect, but better than they used to be.

Re: Tailgate value

What are they worth or what will one cost? I think you know the difference because you wouldn't have asked about the repros if you thought a new take off was worth $1,300. And I agree. I'm glad I bought mine when they were $200 and $300.

The repros aren't so bad these days. The first ones out years ago were so poorly made they would bent if a couple big boys sat on it.

crazy money for those, but i guess they are getting pretty rare for an original, like you said , i'm glad i got mine a few years back, under $200.00....I have a repro on my 74 and not very good quality.....thinner metal
