Finally coming together
Well its been a 5 year build lol. Ive owned the truck since 2000. Spent 10 years tore apart in about 5 different places. But I hope that's all coming to an end. Here is a few current pics and I will post some of the build pics later. Its been fun and exhausting at times. The paint booth in a two car garage takes up a lot of room. But well worth it. Im hoping to finish up this weekend with the bed assembly!!!!!
Frame off 69 short wide. Converting to a wood bed. Specs (I will update as I remember more) 406 big block, 781 heads 2.19/1.88 valves, 280H comp cam, .125 dome piston T400 trans Lowered front 2.5 spindles and cut the coils Lowered rear 4" drop coils and 2.5" blocks 17" torque trust nitto tires 555s Dupont straight black base/clear coat. Wood bed Is stained minwax gunstock 2 coats. Minwax spar urethane |

Thanks for all the nice comments.
Got all the parts in That I needed. Got a fridge full of beer. Called in sick. So a great day to start putting this bed together. We'll see how it goes. I'll post some more pics |

Re: Finally coming together
Spent all day trying to get these panels and wood to fit. I thing I'm close. Bed panes are original. New front panel and cross sills for the wood conversion.

Re: Finally coming together
Yep wife was out here helping. Dremel tool broke. 😳 I'll have to go get another one. Having to make a few holes bigger on the cross sills. Getting some coffee in me then starting back up.
Yes Larry I'm going to look for those build photos and post them later. If I didn't loose them. |

Re: Finally coming together
Well got the bed on and looking good so far. I think I'm going to bolt the bed from underneath. I just don't want to drill the holes. I like the way the bed looks without the bed bolts. Also got the radiator cover painted and put on. I'm hoping to see some sunshine tomorrow. I'm tired of this weather.

Re: Finally coming together
Battery box works great. It's even with the bottom of the frame.
Just striped two teeth off the flywheel. I knew I should have changed that starter before now. O well |

Re: Finally coming together
Thanks again. I'm loving it.
Just finished most of the rear. I bought all the polished bezels and piece for across the tail gate. But I thinking I like it with out the Bezels. I'll tape them up tomorrow and think on it. |

Re: Finally coming together
Ok found the few build pics I have.
Starting with this one and my skinny but at 18. The day I brought it home. Went to do a fence bid and saw it sitting out back. Got to talking picked it up for 1500. In year 2000 |
