Does a Suburban Font Bench Seat Work in a Truck

I,m sure someone here has done this or tried. Are the tracks the same? Do the suburban seats tilt forward to get behind the seat?

I was wondering the same thing for my '77. I was hoping to find something with a center console and bucket seats that was a direct/slightly modified fit.

Re: Does a Suburban Font Bench Seat Work in a Truck

Ive never had a suburban bench but i know you can take the rear out of a crew cab and switch the tracks and it bolts up in the front. If its not split im willing to bet it would probally bolt with the tracks changed. If it is split you would probally need the mounts on the floor to weld in the truck like you would buckets but im just guessing here. I have a single cab seat in the front of my crew cab with the stock tracks i just needed to flatten the rear mounts down some. These year trucks seem to be pretty interchangeable if your willing to do minor mods

Suburban front seats do not fold.

Is there a reason why it has to be a Suburban Bench? I'm just curious, I guess, on why you would swap bench for bench, that doesn't fold? And of course, I'm assuming, that you have a bench in your truck.

Burb bench seat will work in a regular cab if you use the regular cab tracks and You can swap the fold mechanism from the standard cab bench seat.
I used a burb bench as the rear seat in my 2wd CCSB, used the rear seat brackets and swapped the fold mechanism over.

How do you swap the fold mech? As far as I can tell it's part of the back.

It's been a few years, IIrc there were 4 bolts (2 on each side) holding the back to the bottom on the non fold seat. The folding seat has shoulder bolts in the front holes and the rest of the hardware swapped across.

I'd have to look at one of each seat to remember for sure, but it seemed like it was pretty simple...

I have a few seats up in the attic, that I have torn down to restore/recover. I was curious about his too. I will go up and look closely to see how the hardware comes off. I would just be a matter of pulling back the foam enough to see.

It's not under the foam, it's under the plastic cover. The frames are the same

I don't believe so. I swapped my front bench in my 84 crew cab into the rear. The rear seat was hammered. We unbolted everything trying to figure out how to get the front to fold. Only way we figured was to swap the covers. Didn't bother for now. Next nice day maybe I'll pull the cover off the old rear seat. And see whats' going on.

I dunno what to tell you, I have done the swap. And from what I remember it wasn't difficult to figure out. Maybe there were different mechanisms for different years...

So, I finally got a pick of the truck seat folding mechanism. It is all part of the seat back. There is no way of swapping, unless your swapping the whole seat back to the Surburban bottom seat frame. Is this what you did, when you said you swapped them, so it would fold?
