More heavy hauling with the Oneton
With the recent very moist weather my driveway was in such bad shape I said "Enough is enough, ain't waiting for the landlord no more!" and hauled some gravel. Hauled two loads of 3/4" clean, one 1.31 tons and one 1.51 tons - here's what the second (3,020 lbs.) looked like with the 3,900 lb. springs, still almost 2" off the auxiliary overloads.
Older guy manning the gravel yard made some small talk about the truck and a few heavy Chevys he'd owned, an '84? and an early 90's one of which had a 454 with nearly 400K on it when he quit using it.

Nice, the one ton-er's are beasts. One of my 1 ton duallys sports this on the tailgate, not many of these out there.

Re: More heavy hauling with the Oneton
Even though my truck is a half ton, it hauls over 1000 lbs pretty easily, rides alot better with the weight back there too.

Re: More heavy hauling with the Oneton
I have had that much on my 3/4 ton but it was dragging low in the back (8600 GVW.) I limit my loads to 2000# now because that is all I can lift with my dump conversion.

Re: More heavy hauling with the Oneton
Yep, after having 2,600 of wood and 2,700 of gravel in it recently, and then upping it to 3,000 on the last load, I wouldn't want to routinely, knowingly haul more than that in bulk form - as much because I'm trying to keep the bed in good shape as anything, though I still have a thousand pounds left before I exceed GVW.

Re: More heavy hauling with the Oneton
But its pretty cool knowing you have a truck that can handle just about anything you can throw at it. With in common since, which you have shown.
Last spring when Lowes/Home depot have there mulch on sale for .99 a bag. I hauled several full pallets, for two friend's and one for myself. One pallet at a time of course, it made my truck squat. Ken

Funny story related to Lowes - BIL works there and once saw an individual insist on loading two pallets of shingles in his '07+ 1/2 ton Silverado. First pallet made it squat, and after loading the second one and finding the truck wouldn't move, they removed one pallet and it would move but sat noticeably lower than before. Woops.

Good to see your truck out earning its keep. It's in great shape. I like how you protected the bed. |
