Sway Bar Choices
I'm heading to the wrecker to look for a sway bar. I'm building a '68 into which I want to place a 383. I want it to handle well, but I'm not about to do high speed slalom. Is a sway bar from a ½ ton going to be enough, or could I go to a thicker one from a ¾ ton? What are the advantages/disadvantages of moving to a heavier bar?

Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm. '79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said. |

Well it's obviously going to provide better stability, but if you've never ran one before you probably won't notice the difference between 1 1/16" and 1 1/8". There's an aftermarket sway bar available through Early Classic Enterprises that's 1 1/4". I've heard some good things about that one. Right now I'm running a 1 1/8". I'm pretty happy with it.

Get 1 from a 3/4 ton, they are alot easier to find, most of them came from the factory with them on.
