New Rear Wheel Cylinder Installation
The R/R went fine, but when I went to install the L/R it would not seat. Upon a closer look, I finally realized that the "Ears" of the Cylinder (top left and top right of it above the threaded holes) were hitting the Stop Bar that crosses over the top of it.
In about 45 years of installing them now and then, I never ran into this. Of course years ago we had good quality US Made parts. The Cylinders I bought are Wagner's and I asked if they were US Made. Of course the answer was no, but my buddy at the parts store told me he would try to find some made in Mexico or Canada. No luck and the only ones he had were made in China. It's a good 1/16 of an Inch over on both sides and I now have the choice of either filing it down or trying another one in exchange. Anyone out there ever run into this problem?

Re: New Rear Wheel Cylinder Installation
I had the same problem on my C20 Longhorn. I have a leaf spring rear end so i got the ones for a C20 with leafs- didn't fit, just like yours. Took the old ones to the store to compare and they have the right ones, just listed for a coil spring rear end. Well, I don't have a coil spring rear but the wheel cylinders fit perfectly.

Re: New Rear Wheel Cylinder Installation
If the bore in your originals is good, they're probably one of the easiest part on a truck to rebuild. I don't buy new ones anymore, I rebuild the originals. It's a spring and two rubber cups with the end caps.

Re: New Rear Wheel Cylinder Installation
Yeah, I used to rebuild them years ago, but got into the habit of just changing the whole thing. But even though the originals are long gone, I'll be holding on to any originals that I find in my travels.

Re: New Rear Wheel Cylinder Installation
Why not inspect the old ones for rust in the bores, and if they are OK, a light honing plus the new parts mentioned above does the trick. Seems easier to me than driving all over the place to find ones that actually fit.
