first year of 454?
Does anyone know what year the 454 was introduced in the 1 ton pickups? I am looking at '71 GMC c/30 dually flatbed. From the pics it looks to be in excellent shape and the man said it runs like a top. I am currently working 7-12s on nightshift and the truck is about 6 hours away so I can't get there to look at it. It has a 454 and he says he doesn't believe its the factory engine and neither do I. I'm sure someoe on here knows the year it came out.

454 made its debut in the 1970 model year for Cars, Trucks got it in 1973

1971 454s were available in our trucks, my grandpa wanted the 454 when he special ordered his 70 GMC (which is mine truck now) but the 402 was the biggest engine available at the time. 46 years later it has now a 462! 😆
