It wasn't needed but I brought it home anyways

I recently picked up this 71, very clean for around here had a camper in it for most it's life. Has typical rocker holes and a dent in front fender, but has the nicest tailgate I've ever seen. I did a little trading for it so it wouldn't be cut up and put on a Dodge chassis. Truck has 42k miles.

Looks like a good score. Not many left like that one around here.

Gotta love how many guys buy the clean ones to hack up beyond ever being put back, while the guys interested in owning a nice, relatively stock one have to scrounge among trucks that are near part-out condition. Nice score.

I'm not sure on plans yet, my dad tried buying this truck 20 years ago with no luck. As of now I think we're just gonna put in an extra engine I have and use it for the summer. I keep rolling around the 4x4 swap idea as we have a 71 4wd frame. But for now cheap, simple, and running will do.

It all comes down to price and what a guy is willing to pay. I was always taught to buy the best truck you could afford to start with. Bodywork is expensive.

I caught a lot of flack when I bought my 72' 2wd Blazer, mostly from the stock guys. They were choked that I would modify such a nice truck and that if it was theirs they wouldn't do that. Funny thing is that the one who complained the most actually and first dibs, and wouldn't pay what the P.O. wanted. I did. He still whines every time I see him at a cruise night.
