How many of your guys running a step notch?
I am thinking of putting a step notch on my 65 short box build. Can I see pictures of anyone that has one? Did you build or buy yours? If bought where did you get it from?

I currently have a step notch that was bought from CPP. You can bolt it in then weld the edge after middle is cut out. This has not been put in yet so no pictures. A rule of thumb is a 5 inch or more rear drop needs to have shocks relocated/angled and sway bar link replaced or extended.

Why? How low are you going? Bags or Springs? I cut my 62 frame and don't use it. My shocks keep it from going in at full drop to keep exhaust from hitting. Besides the rear comes in contact with bed wood first.

I will be running air ride. I also like the idea of the added strength of a step notch over a cnotch.

The 62 frame is boxed right there. No out of box parts for notches. Porterbuilt is only one with x frame notches.

Re: How many of your guys running a step notch?
I recently bought a 1963 short fleet so I'm new to these trucks. I am planning to lower mine, but from my measurements, a notch isn't much help. As LVphotos pointed out, the rear end pumpkin hits the bed about the same time the axle tubes hit the frame. From what I could see, unless you are going to relieve the area under the bed for the pumpkin, notching is not much help.
