90's seat install

I installed a 90's model bench seat in the old Ramp Rat truck yesterday and just wanted to share some info with everyone who may be thinking about this mod.

The seat fits almost perfect in the truck with just a little bit of modifing. I really like they way they sit too!
First you need to set the seat in the truck and then loosen the 4-5/8" head bolts in the front frame of the seat. This will let the seat frame match the holes in the truck floor board. Put the bolts in and tighten them to mark the rear frame holes. This insures the seat is good and straight when mounted.
I also used 2 big nuts on each back hole to raise the seat up and make it sit better. For me anyways.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 90's seat install

I have the same model seats installed by the PO. There was a block of wood on the left side of the passenger side seat to level them out. Did you have to block this up somehow? They are great seats though!

Re: 90's seat install

I did the same seat, but instead used the existing rear holes and drilled holes for the front. I think I will sit a tad lower than you doing it this way.

Yes it should sit lower but do you have any adjust ment? Mine has some but not much to the back but has pretty good adjustment forward which is good since I have been teaching my daughter how to drive a straight drive with it.

Re: 90's seat install

Almost no adjustment. I like where it is and if my wife gets a wild hair to drive it one day, her legs are as long as mine.

Re: 90's seat install

have you ever checked into having one of these seats recovered? just wondering if it would have to just be recovered over existing upholstery or if the old can be removed. I have one that I want do with houndstooth inserts.

Re: 90's seat install

That looks great. Perfect color too. Back it the late 90 s I looked and looked for that very style seat, for like three years, with no luck. I ended up finding a pair of blazer buckets for a steal, and went with them instead. I still look for a seat like this, to put in a truck I don't have yet. You can never be too prepared.
The Ramp Rat is coming along nicely.

Re: 90's seat install

Looks great! I really like those early 90's seats.

I'm in the process of putting one in my truck. I didn't want to drill any holes in my floor so I tossed the 90's base and made up some adapter plates to bolt the bench to a set of 72 tracks using the original holes.

No I have not. The one in my 71 years ago wore well with very little wear. This one isn't as nice of seat but I do plan to look into having it recovered.
