Somebody Needs This Era Correct Canopy on CL -- Not Mine

Howdy. I'm visiting from the 73-87 side of the forum. Happened upon this ad.

http://corvallis.craigslist.org/pts/5959480472.html

I roll with an era-correct canopy myself. This one looks cool. Patina'ed. And a good deal. Maybe some of the other parts are worth looking at too. Again...not my ad. Don't know the people. Just passing along info that may be useful. Truck on.

There is a guy in Portland, Oregon whom is still building the same style of canopies just with the newer windows. He has outlasted GemTop here locally and is smart as a whip!

Give me a pm if you would like to contact him.

No website, but if you come in and visit him, he does have a album of Polaroids from over the decades.

I will PM his business number over to ya if you like, everyone of his works is much a custom made to order, how you like it with a word of mouth warranty he has backed up to every customer I have seen walk through his door. Not that they leak or anything. I do not believe he could have made it over 30 years on his own.

Ditto. And don't have the time to drive to Portland to look at a stack of Polaroids. Too bad it's a word of mouth business only. I might be interested if I could see and get details on what the fella built.

What does modern windows mean? I like the vents that crank open, or just the old glass. Too bad there aren't any pics to check out, they sound like an excellent option.

If the one linked from Craigslist was closer Id go take a look. A little to far to drive in my truck (285 miles one way) and get down there and see its worse than in the pics.

Re: Somebody Needs This Era Correct Canopy on CL -- Not Mine

toolboxchev, does the gent have the capability to email pictures? Kinda out there to require a visit to OR to just see pics. I am interested, have almost given up on the kind of vintage cap I have been looking for - if he can build something, it might be worth my while to see pics - but I can't drive to OR. Can you pm me some contact info? Thanks for sharing
