Re: questions about converting from steel to wood bed

not sure if there's a thread, but i'm doing it now. not complicated, but it takes some work. you will need bed supports, header panel, wood, strips, and hardware. the bedsides, wheel wells, and tailgate interchange. best advice i have is don't try to loosen any carriage bolts (if they are original), just over-torque them til they shear.

Re: questions about converting from steel to wood bed

Mar-K has a fairly good instruction guide for their kit. I found it helpful even though I went with a kit from Horkey's. The only reason I went with Horkey's is that they were in Minnesota and I was able to save the shipping cost by picking it up. There are lots of kits out there and they all seem to be similar as far as assembly goes. I am very happy that I went with the wood floor instead of the steel (see photo) but I now have to figure out how I'm going to get my zero gravity chair to the car shows when I go. I can say be patient with this as it involves some time to assemble. We fit everything before painting, so we took it apart again for paint and then assembled. Having extra hands is great and the company is good too. Turn on the music, put the beer on ice and have fun. Good luck!

I did Put mine together off the truck. Made things so much easier.
Bolt the sides to the front panel and rear wood support member. Then lay the wood in there and bolt up the cross sills.
