My new 73
What's up y'all.
Picked up this guy yesterday from a buddy of mine the other day in Sacramento. Made it all the way back to Orange County in a single night. Got a 307, 3 on the tree that was changed to a floor shifter by the PO. Got a new clutch and exhaust, but other than that it's all stock. Needs a couple of things, most importantly a better system than the un-boosted manual brakes, and a fuel level sensor since the gauge isn't really trustworthy. I'm planning on eventually doing a 4/6 drop and some 15" 8/10 wheels. |

Re: My new 73
Thanks! Its got a few minor rust spots here and there, but nothing terrible. Been researching what to do to upgrade the brakes, but I'm not sure which route to take for a budget upgrade. Not really gonna touch the motor for now, so I don't need any thing over kill, but it does need to stop effectively in L.A. traffic.

Re: My new 73
Dangit, I didn't even look before I posted that! I have a bunch of other trucks saved on my photobucket and posted that without really looking at it. My bad.

Re: My new 73
Did a little bit of work on the truck over the last couple of days.
Got a new booster/master from CPP. Gotta say, I love the added stopping power. Found a guy in the high desert selling a bench for cheap. No more sitting on duct tape. Ordered some shoulder belts that should be here this week. Got a fan/clutch and new belts that I gotta put in, and the carb really needs to be cleaned and rebuilt. Oh and a radio would be nice. Slowly getting there. |

Re: My new 73
So how did California like bringing in a gross polluter instead of a prius or electric car?
Looks like a very clean 73 I am jealous.

Re: My new 73
Haha, well my buddy in Sacramento brought it down from WA, but he never registered it here. Couple of bucks at AAA to bring the registration up to date took care of that. Gotta love having a pre-76, no smog ever.
It's got a bit of rust from it's time in the PNW, but nothing terrible. |
